| BARNABAS circa 1970-1972 Progressive rock Line up: Keith Hancock, Tony Cox, John Storer Leamington based rock outfit. Played the Walsgrave Tuesday 26th Jan 1971 (Silk Disco). Won Melody Maker 'National Folk/Rock Contest' early 1972.

| BEAT PREACHERS circa 1963-66 R&B/mod/freakbeat Line up: Geoff Parson (guitar), Stuart Coleman (bass), Graham Rolaston (drums), Forbes Merrigan (lead guitar), Jackie McCormick (vocals). Formed around 1964 in Rugby. R&B/Mod outfit who supported The Who at the Matrix Hall in 1965. When they played the Parkstone Club the ad proclaimed "see all you mods there ...". Were known as the Midlands Rolling Stones. Released their lone single under the name The Carribeans (sic) in September 1965. The songwriter credits were 'Benn/Sherriff', after two famous local dignitaries. Reviews at the time noted "..a distinct West Indian sound..." Added Saxophone (Tony Britnell - later of Jigsaw) in April 1966, but split up two months later. Some members joined Pinkerton’s Assorted Colours.Under Friars agency. Played The Walsgrave, The Coventry Flying Club, Orchid Ballroom, Reynold Chains factory, The Heath. Single (as 'The Carribeans'): A: Inside Out/B: ?? (Pye 7N 15961 - 1965)

| The BLUE JAYS circa 1974 Pop / rock band - any occasion. Line up: Johnny Adams (lead guitar and songwriter - from Fission and later with Squad), Al Varney (bass - ex Fission), Mick ? (drums). Came out of Fission with the emphasis now on commercial pop (Tie A Yellow Ribbon On An Old Oak Tree), but also played rock when a rock gig came up.

WEEVILS circa 1963-6 R&B / Blues group Line up: Tim James (vocals, harmonica), Steve Bentham (guitar, vocals), Barry Smale (bass), Joe Craner (drums). Formed around 1963 as Boll Weevils as an R&B outfit. Changed name to above in 1964 to avoid confusion with London group and Kev Dempsey replaced Craner on drums.With Fred Liggins on Tenor Sax they Eventually gravitated towards the more soul orientated sounds of Otis, Pickett, Brown etc. as public tastes changed. Jazzier influence arrived with addition of Gordon Wood and Greg Taylor on Baritone and Tenor sax respectively added in 1965, this coincided with interest from Pye records. Tim James left early 1966 and Steve 'Tiny' Bentham took over. Eventually split July 1966. Dempsey later played guitar in Dando Shaft. |

| The BRETHREN circa 1965 Beat group Line up: Ian Elson (guitar), Simon Aston (bass), Howard Smith (Vocals), Paul Hughes (Drums) and Edward Tudor (Ted) Crum (Vocals and mouth organ). Originally “The Exclusive Brethren”. Ian went on to join The Heart of England Folk Group in 1968, a popular folk group based in Leamington. Ted Crum joined Sneaks Noise.
